Birdy Wei-Ting Hung is a Student Academy Award® winner who has been featured in Filmmaker Magazine’s annual “25 New Faces of Independent Film.” She holds a M.F.A. degree at San Francisco State University, the School of Cinema, where she researched genre films, the abject, and cinematic pleasures. Her experimental short film, A Brighter Summer Day for the Lady Avengers won a Student Academy Award®.

 

Birdy is a PhD student at the University of Leeds, the School of Media and Communication. Her current project reimagines Taiwanese film history through a feminist lens.
